why rethink leadership?
The recent financial crisis has prompted an increasing number of business thinkers and CEO's to openly question some of the assumptions that underpin our current concept of capitalism with its emphasis on maximising shareholder value as the primary goal of economic activity.
As a new commercial reality slowly emerges, what will it mean to manage and lead organisations in such an environment? How will our current perspective on organisations and leadership need to change? What will it take to develop leaders capable of operating in uncertain and complex circumstances? These were the questions addressed by a group of 15 senior executives at the first 'Rethinking leadership for a sustainable future' seminar on May 18th in Central London, led by Bill Critchley and Tim Casserley of Edge Equilibrium.
The success of the event led to the creation of a Linked-in group on sustainable leadership, as well as a networking group that aims to meet several times a year to explore practice in applying the sustainable leadership concept.
